Felt very uncomfortable all night with the bloating which had now become full blown constipation - lovely stuff. I like to think I am somewhat of a lady so having to talk about the downstairs bodily functions is not an enjoyable experience for me, but it was getting very painful. So at around 8 am on Saturday morning I asked for some more lactulose and these peppermint tablets a nurse had mentioned to me. The doctor said he would get the nurse to bring them.
No sign by 12 but they seemed so busy I hated to ask & be a pain. Speaking of pain.....from the op it was still bearable. No more morphine now just codeine. Definitely uncomfortable but to be honest by that point it was the constipation and bloating that were causing me more issues.
Pat was her cheery, loud self bright and early asking if she could have a wash as she hadn't had one since Tuesday. This was denied due to her still being on a morphine drip so she had to settle for her babywipes. Here comes the worst part: the first wipe (and only wipe used I should add) began it's cleaning around the groin area, leading up to the armpits before finishing on her FACE!!!!!!! I would have liked to look away but being that she kept me engaged in conversation throughout the cleansing process it was impossible. Its a shame vomiting wouldn't help with the constipation because I was good to go.
By 5pm I still hadn't been given anything to help with the pain and was actually in tears it was so bad. Buzzed to nurse who apologised profusely as I should have been given it hours ago.
So began 16hours of agony :(
Now as I said I don't really like talking about toilet habits so I'll do my best to be 'ladylike'. I had horrendous cramps throughout the night, it was impossible to sleep. I was back and forth to the toilet like a bloody yoyo but to no avail. I literally felt like my body was going to explode. Sometime around 3am I started to throw up. Fortunately I made it to the toilet but very dramatically collapsed on the floor and had to be wheeled back into the room. I was ordered to remain in bed and a commode would be brought to be. And that was where I was to then sit / attempt to sleep for the next 2 hours before finally being able to 'go'. Officially a low point of my life - doing a poo in a room with 3 other women on a wheel chair commode!!!!!
